Neverland Above London
The central focus features Wendy, John, Michael, and Peter Pan soaring through the night sky above London, bathed in the light of a full moon. Big Ben stands prominently in the foreground. The London cityscape below offers a detailed and atmospheric representation of the city.
Flight to Neverland
In addition, Darlington’s signature 3D elements and resin finish add a tactile depth to the piece. This enhances the sense of immersion. It brings the characters and city to life. The cool, muted color palette, dominated by blues and greys, creates a sense of mystery and magic. The artist’s attention to detail enhances the scene.
A Starry Adventure
The square format of the print enhances the balanced and harmonious feel of the artwork. Furthermore, the title “Second Star to the Right” is a reference to the direction Peter Pan gives to Wendy, John, and Michael to find Neverland. Overall, “Second Star to the Right” is not only a delightful piece of art. However, it captures the sense of wonder and adventure associated with Peter Pan. It reminds viewers of the power of imagination and the enduring appeal of classic tales.
About Kerry
Kerry Darlington is one of the most sought after and influential artists at work in the UK and a major figure on the international art scene. Her boundless creative gift, technical brilliance, mastery of colour and above all, her infinite imagination, have taken her far beyond the everyday and turned her into a fine art sensation.
The haunting beauty of Kerry’s work grows from a unique combination of pattern, nature, energy and nostalgia. Her stunning three dimensional mixed media pieces are unmistakable in style and completely individual, revolving around the theme of myths and legends, poetry and stories. She creates her spellbinding narrative images with a range of materials including resin and metallics. She achieves a unique, translucent texture through the accumulation of layers which adds both depth and light.
Her published works are described as ‘unique editions’ as they combine a printed element with original art. Kerry creates small 3D additions which are hand-worked individually and adhered to the print. The background is also hand embellished, and all the work has resin hand-applied. Therefore although they are in essence a limited edition print, every piece has the appearance of a unique original painting.
Born in 1974 in North Wales, Kerry began to develop a passion for art through her love of old picture books. As a child she was captivated by the illustrations of Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac and Aubrey Beardsley and later on she grew to love the Pre-Raphaelites and Art Nouveau. Her fascination with the wider world of decorative art, and inspired her to undertake a degree in illustration in 1996.
Kerry works in her studio at home in North Wales, combining all of these influences and creating work which is innovative, individual and inspirational. Her work is in huge demand, and in 2012 and again in 2014 she was named as the UK’s best-selling published artist for her extraordinary unique editions.
