Moonlight Over St Michael’s Mount Paul Haddon Photography
Celestial Embrace
This breath taking framed photograph captures St Michael’s Mount bathed in the ethereal glow of a full moon. The island, crowned by its historic castle, sits serenely in the calm waters. A paved causeway stretches towards it from the foreground, seemingly leading the viewer’s eye directly to the moonlit scene.
Serene Nightscape
The deep blue hues of the night sky provide a striking contrast to the soft, warm light reflecting on the water’s surface. The moon’s light creates a magical path across the causeway and the sea, leading directly to the majestic castle. As a result, the scene is filled with a sense of mystery and peace.
Tranquil Waters
The long exposure technique used in this photograph beautifully captures the smoothness of the water, almost mirroring the sky above. Consequently, the reflections of the moon and the castle create a sense of symmetry and stillness. The overall effect is one of serene beauty and timeless tranquility.
Captured Moment
This captivating image skilfully balances light and shadow, and colour and texture. In short, it perfectly captures a moment of magical beauty, showcasing the iconic landmark in a completely new and enchanting way. The result is a piece that commands attention and invites contemplation.
Paul Haddon Photography
Early Inspiration
At just 14 years old, Paul Haddon discovered his passion for photography when he picked up his dad’s film camera. He spent hours capturing moments with his best friend, Rebel, a German Shepherd. This newfound interest led Paul to enrol in a night school photography course, where he mastered both “O” and “A” level standards within two years.
Pursuit of Unusual Subjects
Paul has always had a fascination with photographing unusual subjects. He remembers haunting cemeteries during late hours, eager to capture that magical play of light on gravestones and churches, sometimes frightening himself in the process. Although work and family commitments temporarily halted his photography pursuits, the advent of digital photography rekindled his enthusiasm two decades later. He eagerly bought his first digital camera to explore the art form again.
Commercial Success and New Ventures
Paul’s first commercial success was a panoramic montage of the Back Beach in Teignmouth, which he sold in his restaurant. As demand for his framed photography grew, he ventured into the picture framing and Fine Art industries. This journey led to the creation of Haddon Galleries in Torquay.
Exploring the World
Today, Paul has the opportunity to travel to exotic locations, capturing an array of subjects from wildlife to street life and landscapes to seascapes. He finds endless amazement and inspiration in nature and the beauty of our world. Transitioning from film to digital photography has allowed Paul to pursue his passion with renewed vigour and creativity.
