Autumn at Shaugh Bridge Paul Haddon Photography
Dartmoor’s Embrace
The photograph captures the essence of autumn on Dartmoor. A tranquil stream flows gently, its surface reflecting the surrounding colours. Consequently, moss-covered rocks of various sizes lie scattered in and around the water. The overall effect is one of serenity and natural beauty.
Shaugh Bridges’ Charm
Moreover, an old stone bridge subtly appears in the background, adding a touch of history and character to the scene. This architectural element blends seamlessly with the natural environment. Furthermore, the warm hues of autumn leaves enhance the overall composition, creating a peaceful and inviting atmosphere.
Autumnal Hues
In addition, the lighting in the image is soft and diffused, enhancing the textures and colours. This creates a sense of depth and detail. As a result, the viewer feels drawn into the scene’s tranquil setting. The photographer skillfully used long exposure techniques to blur the water’s motion, resulting in an almost ethereal quality.
A Touch of Magic
Finally, this framed piece would undoubtedly enhance any home, bringing a taste of Dartmoor’s charm indoors. It’s an idyllic scene, perfect for relaxation or contemplation.
Paul Haddon Photography
Early Inspiration
At just 14 years old, Paul Haddon discovered his passion for photography when he picked up his dad’s film camera. He spent hours capturing moments with his best friend, Rebel, a German Shepherd. This newfound interest led Paul to enroll in a night school photography course, where he mastered both “O” and “A” level standards within two years.
Pursuit of Unusual Subjects
Paul has always had a fascination with photographing unusual subjects. He remembers haunting cemeteries during late hours, eager to capture that magical play of light on gravestones and churches, sometimes frightening himself in the process. Although work and family commitments temporarily halted his photography pursuits, the advent of digital photography rekindled his enthusiasm two decades later. He eagerly bought his first digital camera to explore the art form again.
Commercial Success and New Ventures
Paul’s first commercial success was a panoramic montage of the Back Beach in Teignmouth, which he sold in his restaurant. As demand for his framed photography grew, he ventured into the picture framing and Fine Art industries. This journey led to the creation of Haddon Galleries in Torquay.
Exploring the World
Today, Paul has the opportunity to travel to exotic locations, capturing an array of subjects from wildlife to street life and landscapes to seascapes. He finds endless amazement and inspiration in nature and the beauty of our world. Transitioning from film to digital photography has allowed Paul to pursue his passion with renewed vigor and creativity.
