View From Brent Tor Dartmoor Paul Haddon Photography
Dartmoor’s Golden Embrace
This breath taking panoramic photograph captures a sweeping view from Brent Tor, Dartmoor. The image shows the rolling hills and farmland in the foreground. This creates an expansive and majestic feel.
Fields of Gold
The foreground consists of fields bathed in the warm, golden light of the setting sun. Furthermore, these fields are divided by hedgerows, creating a patchwork effect. The colours are rich and vibrant.
Distant Hills
In the distance, the rugged hills of Dartmoor rise, their silhouettes stark against the sky. These imposing hills dominate the background. Above, a dramatic sky adds depth and interest to the composition.
Light and Shadow
The interplay of light and shadow adds texture and depth. Meanwhile, the lighting casts long shadows across the landscape. This creates a sense of time passing.

Early Inspiration
At just 14 years old, Paul Haddon discovered his passion for photography when he picked up his dad’s film camera. He spent hours capturing moments with his best friend, Rebel, a German Shepherd. This newfound interest led Paul to enroll in a night school photography course, where he mastered both “O” and “A” level standards within two years.
Pursuit of Unusual Subjects
Paul has always had a fascination with photographing unusual subjects. He remembers haunting cemeteries during late hours, eager to capture that magical play of light on gravestones and churches, sometimes frightening himself in the process. Although work and family commitments temporarily halted his photography pursuits, the advent of digital photography rekindled his enthusiasm two decades later. He eagerly bought his first digital camera to explore the art form again.
Commercial Success and New Ventures
Paul’s first commercial success was a panoramic montage of the Back Beach in Teignmouth, which he sold in his restaurant. As demand for his framed photography grew, he ventured into the picture framing and Fine Art industries. This journey led to the creation of Haddon Galleries in Torquay.
Exploring the World
Today, Paul has the opportunity to travel to exotic locations, capturing an array of subjects from wildlife to street life and landscapes to seascapes. He finds endless amazement and inspiration in nature and the beauty of our world. Transitioning from film to digital photography has allowed Paul to pursue his passion with renewed vigour and creativity.
