After completing her education, Boyce became a freelance illustrator. Her editorial work appeared in notable publications, including Woman’s Weekly, Bella, My Weekly, Sunday Express, and Woman’s Own. This diverse experience helped establish her reputation in the industry.

Boyce’s illustration work opened doors to major book publishers, marking a significant milestone in her career. In 1999, she exhibited at the Sheffield Art Show, where her originals achieved record prices.
