Life and Inspiration
Alberto Martinez was born in a small Cuban village in 1977. There, amidst the towering sugar cane plantations, his artistic journey began. His earliest sketches, consequently, featured steam engines pulling cane trucks—a reflection of his immediate surroundings. Furthermore, encouraged by the unwavering support of his family and friends, Alberto diligently pursued his passion for art. This dedication, in turn, secured him a place at the esteemed Fine Arts Academy, ‘Oscar Fernandez Morera’, in Trinidad. Initially, his focus was on sculpture; however, he later shifted his attention to painting, seamlessly integrating his profound understanding of sculptural principles, such as shape and space, into his canvases.

After graduating from the academy, Alberto actively exhibited his artwork throughout Cuba. Subsequently, a significant turning point arrived in 2005 when he moved to Brighton, England, where he continues to live and create to this day. Remarkably, he is recognized for his vibrant sense of humor, a trait inherited from his father.
