The Eighth Tee by John Skinner
A Glimpse of Torquay’s Beauty
This fine art limited edition Giclée print, “The Eighth Tee at Torquay Golf Club” by John Skinner, captures the essence of this scenic location. In this artwork, Skinner masterfully blends the natural beauty of the coastline with the manicured greens of the golf course. Moreover, the composition invites viewers to immerse themselves in the tranquil scene.
Rolling Greens Meet Coastal Splendor
The panoramic view showcases the eighth tee, but also offers glimpses of the town and the sparkling sea. The composition consists of lush greenery which frames the golf course. Buildings nestle amongst the trees and in the distance, and the iconic church spire punctuates the skyline.
A Harmonious Palette
Furthermore, Skinner’s use of color enhances the peaceful atmosphere. The soft blues of the sky and sea complement the vibrant greens of the landscape. A variety of wildflowers add subtle pops of colour. Consequently, the scene has a harmonious feel to it. The artwork evokes a sense of serenity and invites you to experience the beauty of Torquay Golf Club.
John Skinner Art: Born in London in 1959, it wasn’t until twenty years later whilst living in Newcastle, that John Skinner began painting in earnest. With no formal training, John perfected a distinct technique and an unorthodox, against the rules approach to watercolours, manifesting itself in the uniquely jewelled quality that we see in his work.
John has been a children’s book illustrator and worked on corporate commissions as well as working extensively in film and television. Spitting Image and Walt Disney were among his impressive list of credits.
John has now settled in Teignmouth with his family and can often be seen roaming the estuary, moor land and coastal paths of the area.
His paintings are now a result of what John loves doing the most ‘painting for people’ he calls it ‘and after all that’s what it’s all about isn’t it.’
