Twilight Torquay Harbour Paul Haddon Photography
Harbour’s Embrace
The photograph captures Torquay Harbour at twilight. A serene calmness pervades the scene. Lights twinkle along the harbour’s edge, reflecting beautifully in the still water. The image shows a picturesque view of the town at night.
Coastal Charm
Two tall structures stand prominently near the harbour. They’re dramatically lit in shades of purple. Furthermore, these towers add a touch of modern architecture to the scene. Behind them, the hills of Torquay rise, dotted with buildings.
Serene Reflections
The water acts as a mirror, reflecting the lights and the buildings. Consequently, the scene is doubled, creating a sense of depth and symmetry. Boats are gently moored along the harbour, adding to the tranquil atmosphere.
Twilight Hues
The sky displays a gorgeous blend of blues and purples. Moreover, this soft light enhances the overall mood of the image. The colours are rich and vibrant, suggesting a twilight hour just after sunset. Overall, it’s a captivating moment in time.
Paul Haddon Photography
Early Inspiration
At just 14 years old, Paul Haddon discovered his passion for photography when he picked up his dad’s film camera. He spent hours capturing moments with his best friend, Rebel, a German Shepherd. This newfound interest led Paul to enroll in a night school photography course, where he mastered both “O” and “A” level standards within two years.
Pursuit of Unusual Subjects
Paul has always had a fascination with photographing unusual subjects. He remembers haunting cemeteries during late hours, eager to capture that magical play of light on gravestones and churches, sometimes frightening himself in the process. Although work and family commitments temporarily halted his photography pursuits, the advent of digital photography rekindled his enthusiasm two decades later. He eagerly bought his first digital camera to explore the art form again.
Commercial Success and New Ventures
Paul’s first commercial success was a panoramic montage of the Back Beach in Teignmouth, which he sold in his restaurant. As demand for his framed photography grew, he ventured into the picture framing and Fine Art industries. This journey led to the creation of Haddon Galleries in Torquay.
Exploring the World
Today, Paul has the opportunity to travel to exotic locations, capturing an array of subjects from wildlife to street life and landscapes to seascapes. He finds endless amazement and inspiration in nature and the beauty of our world. Transitioning from film to digital photography has allowed Paul to pursue his passion with renewed vigor and creativity.
