Early Life and Influences
Artist Ben Jeffery, born in 1986, grew up in Barnet, north London. His grandfather introduced him to the work of John Varley, sparking a lifelong passion for art. This early exposure significantly influenced his artistic development. He always had a keen interest in art.
Discovering His Artistic Path
In secondary school, Ben realized he wanted to be an artist. He and some classmates engaged in friendly drawing competitions. He created a portrait of his father for a mock GCSE exam. The class loved it!
Formal Training and Self-Teaching
Art at the college and university level. He received valuable guidance, yet his technique is largely self-taught.largely learned independently. He mainly worked alone.
Developing a Unique Style
Jefferies always preferred painting with oils, creating colorful and detailed works. His tutors weren’t always enthusiastic. However, his classmates consistently admired his paintings. He experimented continuously. His style gradually evolved through this process of trial and error. He learned to control the paint better.
