Texture and Light
The photograph beautifully highlights the elephant’s incredibly textured skin. Deep lines and creases crisscross its surface, showcasing the elephant’s life story. Meanwhile, the subtle play of light and shadow adds to the image’s dramatic intensity.
Emotional Depth
More than just a portrait, this image connects us to the elephant’s spirit. Its expressive eye suggests years of wisdom and experience. Consequently, the viewer feels a connection to this majestic creature. This feeling resonates strongly, provoking thought and contemplation.

Paul Haddon Biography
Discovery of Photography
Paul Haddon discovered his passion for photography at age 14. He started taking pictures with his dad’s film camera, capturing moments with Rebel, his German Shepherd. Eager to understand photography’s technical side, Paul enrolled in a night school course. Within two years, he achieved both “O” and “A” level standards in photography.
Unique Exploration
Paul enjoyed photographing unusual subjects such as cemeteries in the magical, eerie light of late nights. These explorations often frightened him, yet fueled his creativity. Eventually, work and family commitments shifted his priorities, and photography took a back seat. However, nearly 20 years later, the advent of digital photography reignited his interest. Paul couldn’t resist; he purchased his first digital camera.
Commercial Success
Paul’s first commercial achievement came with a panoramic montage of the Back Beach in Teignmouth, sold in his restaurant. As demand for his framed photography grew, he ventured into the picture framing and Fine Art industries. This journey eventually led to the creation of Haddon Galleries in Torquay.
Ongoing Adventures
Now, Paul travels to exotic locations to photograph a variety of subjects, including wildlife, street life, landscapes, and seascapes. Nature and the world around him continue to inspire and amaze him.
