The Groynes by John Skinner
A Teignmouth Sunset Serenade
John Skinner’s “The Groynes, Teignmouth” Giclée print captures the breathtaking beauty of the Devon coastline. The limited edition artwork perfectly illustrates the serene atmosphere of a sunset over the sea, inviting viewers to feel the tranquility of the moment. It offers a captivating glimpse of Teignmouth’s charm.
Golden Hour Reflections
The painting showcases the groynes stretching into the water, creating a dynamic sense of depth. The setting sun casts a warm, golden glow across the scene, reflecting off the wet sand and rippling waves. Moreover, a lone seagull perched atop a post adds a touch of life to the otherwise still seascape.
A Symphony of Colour
The artist’s masterful use of colour creates a vibrant yet soothing visual experience. The sky transitions from a deep indigo to shades of orange and yellow. Because of this, it creates a stunning backdrop for the darker hues of the sea. As a result, the piece is aesthetically pleasing.
A Timeless Coastal Scene
“The Groynes, Teignmouth” encapsulates the timeless beauty of the British seaside. It brings a sense of peace and wonder to any space. In fact, this artwork is a treasure for any art lover.
John Skinner Art: Born in London in 1959, it wasn’t until twenty years later whilst living in Newcastle, that John Skinner began painting in earnest. With no formal training, John perfected a distinct technique and an unorthodox, against the rules approach to watercolours, manifesting itself in the uniquely jewelled quality that we see in his work.
John has been a children’s book illustrator and worked on corporate commissions as well as working extensively in film and television. Spitting Image and Walt Disney were among his impressive list of credits.
John has now settled in Teignmouth with his family and can often be seen roaming the estuary, moor land and coastal paths of the area.
His paintings are now a result of what John loves doing the most ‘painting for people’ he calls it ‘and after all that’s what it’s all about isn’t it.’
