Childhood Dreams and Education
As a child, Jackie Morris dreamed of becoming an artist, yearning to break free from school constraints to pursue painting. Her artistic journey began in the Vale of Evesham and continued at Hereford College of Arts and Bath Academy.
Artistic Career and Collaborations
Jackie has illustrated for publications such as the New Statesman, Independent, and Guardian. She collaborated with the renowned Ted Hughes and has both written and illustrated over forty books, including beloved classics like The Snow Leopard and The Ice Bear. Her love for animals and birds, particularly in watercolor, shines throughout her work.
Acclaimed Works and Achievements
In 2017, Jackie released the internationally acclaimed The Lost Words in collaboration with Robert Macfarlane, followed by The Lost Spells in 2020. She has also performed live painting at Spell Song Concerts in notable venues, including The Royal Festival Hall and The Natural History Museum. Her achievements include the Hay Medal for Illustration in 2018 and the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal in 2019 for The Lost Words.
Current Life
Jackie now resides in a cottage on the cliffs of Pembrokeshire, where she continues her artistic endeavors. Her surroundings provide inspiration for her ongoing work.
