Simply provide us with a digital image or we can scan your original work for you, choose your paper type and size and let our top-of-the-range fine art Giclée printers get to work. If you require a single copy or an entire print run, no job is too big or too small. We also offer varying levels of service so you control the final cost.

What is Giclee printing?

The word Giclée (“g-clay”), is derived from the French verb gicler meaning “to squirt or spray”. Giclée, is used to describe a fine art digital printing process combining pigment based inks with high quality archival paper or canvas to achieve an archival quality print which is both light fast and stable. Our prints are created using Canon Pro2000 and Canon Pro4000 printers which, with their 12 channel print heads, are capable of producing an extremely wide tonal range and colour gamut.

Once we make a master print and archive the digital master file, we can produce identical edition prints at any point in the future. This is perfect for photographers and artists as prints can be ordered on demand.

Our recomendation for preparing your digital file for print

Before you press the shutter button...

On your camera settings menu you will find ‘colour space’. Factory settings are very often set to SRGB. Change this setting before taking photos to Adobe RGB. This will give superior colour reproduction.

Set your camera to the highest quality. If it supports RAW, then use it. This file type holds every piece of information which gives you greater control when processing your files in a program like Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop, giving the best results. You can use JPEGs but be aware these may not produce such a high quality reproduction.

Process your own files...

We recommend processing files in Adobe Photoshop or a program with similar functionality. For best results, set your DPI (Dots Per Inch) to 300. (You can find this tool in ‘Image Size’ in the ‘Image’ tab in Photoshop). Once this is set you can re size your image by entering the measurements in the width and height as desired. Please note: making very large prints from small files will reduce quality.

If you require white bleed borders around your image, you can add these using the ‘canvas size’ setting in the ‘Image Size’ tab as above.

You need to make sure your file is 8bit. To do this in Photoshop select ‘image’, ‘mode’ and ‘8bit’. Please flatten any layers in your file and save as a TIFF (for best quality) or JPEG.

Alternatively, let us process your files for you...

We offer a comprehensive service to take the hassle out of preparing your files for printing. We will make all the necessary file adjustments including DPI, bit depth, size, levels and advise on colour reproduction to get the best from your digital file. We will even produce a small test print to check the colours and demonstrate the process for you to complete in the future if you like! Please contact us for price details.
