Fabulous Penelope by Alberto MartinezÂ
International Rescue In Style
Alberto Martinez delivers a captivating, surrealist tribute to iconic classic television in “Fabulous Penelopy”. At the centre, the stylish Lady Penelope in a luxurious fur-trimmed coat stands proudly in the foreground. Meanwhile, her famous bright pink six-wheeled vehicle, sporting the ‘FAB 1’ number plate, dominates the street. Her faithful chauffeur, Parker, perches on the bonnet alongside a football and a copper teapot bonnet ornament. Furthermore, giant snail shell mechanisms substitute traditional wheels, creating a signature Martinez twist.
Tracy Island Metropolitan Dispatch
In the background, double-decker London buses line the city street against grand architectural facades. Notably, one red bus displays a destination sign for ‘Tracy Island’ and features a giant panda peering from the top deck. A vintage camera lens mounted on a building wall keeps watch above the scene. Additionally, a giant pencil stands tall behind a yellow lorry, adding playfulness to the metropolitan setting. Consequently, Martinez blends nostalgic International Rescue heritage with vibrant contemporary surrealism.
Striking Gallery Framing
This fine art limited edition Giclée canvas on board arrives elegantly presented in a high-gloss black stepped frame. Moreover, a clean white inner slip accents the artwork and draws the viewer into its rich details. Therefore, this framed print serves as an unforgettable statement piece for fine art collectors.

Life and Inspiration
Alberto Martinez was born in a small Cuban village in 1977. There, amidst the towering sugar cane plantations, his artistic journey began. His earliest sketches, consequently, featured steam engines pulling cane trucks—a reflection of his immediate surroundings. Furthermore, encouraged by the unwavering support of his family and friends, Alberto diligently pursued his passion for art. This dedication, in turn, secured him a place at the esteemed Fine Arts Academy, ‘Oscar Fernandez Morera’, in Trinidad. Initially, his focus was on sculpture; however, he later shifted his attention to painting, seamlessly integrating his profound understanding of sculptural principles, such as shape and space, into his canvases.
Artistic Journey
After graduating from the academy, Alberto actively exhibited his artwork throughout Cuba. Subsequently, a significant turning point arrived in 2005 when he moved to Brighton, England, where he continues to live and create to this day. Remarkably, he is recognized for his vibrant sense of humor, a trait inherited from his father. Moreover, Alberto frequently develops his artistic concepts during the quiet hours of the night, exploring the multifaceted themes of modern life through surreal landscapes and dynamic cityscapes.
Style and Themes
Alberto’s artistic style is a truly unique blend of wit, unrestrained imagination, and subtle nuance. In other words, he masterfully distorts reality to create compelling narratives. These narratives, in turn, reflect his keen observations of history and political science. His distinctive style is defined by vivid colors, an incredible level of detail, and intriguing elements that challenge established artistic norms and conventions.
Inspiration and Storytelling
Drawing profound inspiration from his relocation to England, Alberto painstakingly constructs intricate stories that both enthrall and provoke thought. As a result, his artwork transforms ordinary, everyday scenes into captivating narratives filled with subtle layers of hidden meaning. Therefore, he invites the viewer to engage with his work on a deeper level and consider fresh perspectives on the world around them. Ultimately, his art serves as a resounding testament to his enduring creativity and insightful exploration of global society and its complexities.
