Life and Inspiration

Alberto Martinez was born in a small Cuban village in 1977. There, amidst the towering sugar cane plantations, his artistic journey began. His earliest sketches, consequently, featured steam engines pulling cane trucks—a reflection of his immediate surroundings. Furthermore, encouraged by the unwavering support of his family and friends, Alberto diligently pursued his passion for art. This dedication, in turn, secured him a place at the esteemed Fine Arts Academy, ‘Oscar Fernandez Morera’, in Trinidad. Initially, his focus was on sculpture; however, he later shifted his attention to painting, seamlessly integrating his profound understanding of sculptural principles, such as shape and space, into his canvases.

Artistic Journey

After graduating from the academy, Alberto actively exhibited his artwork throughout Cuba. Subsequently, a significant turning point arrived in 2005 when he moved to Brighton, England, where he continues to live and create to this day. Remarkably, he is recognized for his vibrant sense of humor, a trait inherited from his father. Moreover, Alberto frequently develops his artistic concepts during the quiet hours of the night, exploring the multifaceted themes of modern life through surreal landscapes and dynamic cityscapes.

Style and Themes

Alberto’s artistic style is a truly unique blend of wit, unrestrained imagination, and subtle nuance. In other words, he masterfully distorts reality to create compelling narratives. These narratives, in turn, reflect his keen observations of history and political science. His distinctive style is defined by vivid colors, an incredible level of detail, and intriguing elements that challenge established artistic norms and conventions.

Inspiration and Storytelling

Drawing profound inspiration from his relocation to England, Alberto painstakingly constructs intricate stories that both enthrall and provoke thought. As a result, his artwork transforms ordinary, everyday scenes into captivating narratives filled with subtle layers of hidden meaning. Therefore, he invites the viewer to engage with his work on a deeper level and consider fresh perspectives on the world around them. Ultimately, his art serves as a resounding testament to his enduring creativity and insightful exploration of global society and its complexities.
